This season starts off with Daimon and Akira-san at the horse racing track, where she just lost her money for betting on the wrong horse. During the race the horse and its rider are being injured. The vet recommends to the owner that the horse should be euthanized. Daimon overhearing that, objects and does the surgery on the horse herself. Not knowing that the owner is the head of the Internal Medicine Department at Teito University Hospital at Tokyo.
When Daimon attends a conference at Teito University Hospital, the patient that is being discussed has a thigh bone sarcoma and all the doctors decide to make go with a leg amputation. Upon hearing this Daimon voice rings in the room saying “I Disagree”. Which embarks the start of a bumpy road around the hospital.
If you want a show that watches easily, is a bit funny at times and you don’t really need to know what happened before or after a certain time, the Doctor X series are the one for you. By accident I started watching season 2 and when I did my research I discovered one thing; for character relationships, it might be handy to watch the first season, how did she start out as a lone wolf and her bond with Akira and the others, but you don’t need it. The stories are basically the same. Fighting doctors, Daimon who saves the day and that’s it. The third season brings back some people of the past, so all the seasons are somewhat intertwined, which is fun. And I’m sure the other seasons all have small things like that. One of the strongest points of Doctor X is the political games for power, how they handle a thing whether it plays into their hands or take away chances. And how Daimon just does her thing, despite being hated.
The thing with dramas is that you always need to take them with a pinch of salt, Doctor X is no different. The reality that cancer can return is being pushed back and it seems no-one wants to admit things like that can happen, because they performed the surgery perfectly. This kinda bothers me, because a lot of political game has played so they want to hide that, and maybe I’m taking it too seriously, but there’s nothing wrong with admitting that it’s the same, and yes it came back, because it can happen. Other than that, the series is very entertaining. The returning characters are really helping the show, to show people how normal Daimon actually is, besides a bad gambler and a surgery addict.
Overall I found it entertaining. It distracted me, and forced me to almost instantly watch it. And I did it with pleasure. Did I watch the other series? No, not yet, I’m intending to do so, but time is everywhere, so that will go a little slower. At the point of writing this review I started with season three, as I have yet find season 1.
